Original work
White Sails’ original work has a focus on acclaimed West Country artists, alongside nationally and internationally recognised artists whose work explores coastal landscapes and the natural world.
Limited Editions
For many years White Sails has had a reputation for exhibiting a stunning range of Limited Editions by a wide range of local and national painters, each one hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
Photography
White Sails is proud to exhibit Nigel Evans, a renowned photographer with a close relationship to Dartmouth.
Print and decorative wall art
At White Sails Gallery, we have sourced a collection of striking open print images by innovative artists. If a different image size is needed for your space, please enquire, as our framers may be able to assist in resizing.
3D Fine Art
Art is more than something to admire. It is something to bring into your space and live with every day. Our 3D art collection features beautifully crafted ceramics, bronzes, metalwork, carvings, lighting, and glass. Each piece is chosen for its shape, texture, and the way it plays with light. Whether bold or delicate, sculptural or functional, these works add depth and character to any room. Discover art that is made to be seen and felt
Ceramics
White Sails is excited to exhibit the delicate, vibrant ceramics of Faye Mayo alongside the beautiful nature-based ceramics of Michelle Hall. Our selection of these artists’ smaller pieces changes from day to day, so please contact the gallery and we will be happy to send photos of the work currently available for purchase.
Bronzes
White Sails currently exhibits bronze sculpture by leading local artists. Each sculpture is originally produced in chavant clay from which a mould is taken to cast the finished work either in Cold Cast or Solid Bronze. The castings are produced locally in Devon and each bronze is hand-finished and polished.
Metal
Carvings
Hand carved from albesia wood, in Indonesia. Because of natural variations in materials, no two pieces are identical and images are for information only.
Lighting & Glass
Inka Gabriel is a maker of contemporary lights based in the South Hams. Born in Cologne, Germany, she successfully completed an apprenticeship in glazing, becoming responsible for designing and completing work on leaded lights, lamps and sandblasting. In 1989, she came to London to join The Stained-Glass Shop in Wandsworth, concentrating on leaded light production, and she has worked with glass ever since. A move to Devon in 1992 to start her family prompted a new direction for her work. Her lamps are set on solid wooden bases and made in white opaque or opalescent glass, with clear simple lines. Glass for the lights may be sourced from recycled Edwardian and Victorian pieces and sometimes hand-blown glass is used. Inka works with the traditional copper foiling technique and includes other small areas of natural and man-made materials in her designs, fusing the man-made and natural. Each light is unique, as, even where designs are repeated, colours and materials are never the same.
