John Horsewell

John is a contemporary professional artist, working from his studio on the Essex/ Suffolk border,

John’s parents and grandfather were all professional artists and perhaps this has informed John’s lifelong love of art and choice of career. Whilst at school John experimented with all forms of media and initially worked predominantly in oils, before moving towards his characteristic acrylic on board. 

After beginning his career in the world of interior design, John became a full time professional artist in 1978 and his subsequent career has been extremely successful. 

Horsewell’s paintings are executed in acrylic, and use of both brushes and palette knives, gives them their distinctive texture.

The flair with which John paints is testament to his enjoyment of the coastal environment, and his love for the sea is evident in the work.
