Laura is a fine artist based in Devon. With 20 years experience as a choreographer, dancer and circus performer, Laura says it felt entirely natural to combine her extensive knowledge of the human body with her exploration of contemporary stained glass. She loves celebrating strength and ‘real’ bodies- using the movement in the glass to capture curvaceousness, strength and beauty.

Laura fell in love with working in glass after 2 decades in the UK Creative Industries working as an award-winning inter-disciplinary Choreographer and Artist.

Laura’s work is the result of 4 years of self taught development, supplemented by a part time apprenticeship in glass blowing at Teign Valley Glass. She has sought training experiences in glass painting and stained glass with Nina Perrot (Member of the Guild of Master Craftsman) and Glass Casting from Zhenning Li and Fiaz Elson and Neon Signmaking with Tommy Gustafsschiöld at The Glass Factory, Sweden.

Laura says the fluidity of glass is extraordinary; both in its molten form, and as sheet glass. The colours, reflective and magnifying properties and the fickleness of the material really excite her. Her exceptional technical delivery and contemporary visual style allows her to express her love of colour and movement into the flow and precision of glass work. From Geometric Architectural pieces and glass painting, to nudes in rare mouthblown glass – her glass work is playful, colourful and vivid.

Laura has won the Amanda Moriarty Memorial Prize 2024, been longlisted for the Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Award 2025 and has work in the permanent Collection of the International Biennale of Glass, Bulgaria.

Entirely cut by hand, where possible work is made with vintage, or rare mouthblown sheet glass. Each piece is leaded using traditional leaded stained glass techniques. Laura loves combining the traditional processes and methodology with a contemporary exploration of the human form, which has grown out of a previous 20 year career as a choreographer. On suitable nudes she also combines a calligraphic use of traditional vitreous paints.
