Artist photo forFaye Mayo

Faye is a contemporary UK ceramicist with strong personal links to the West Country, whose studio is based in Surrey. After an MA in Ceramics and Textiles at Goldsmiths’ College, London, Faye set up her studio in the early nineties making vessels and sculptures. Her instantly recognisable work is much acclaimed and collected.

Faye’s work focuses on the vessel as representation of human identity in all its fragility and resilience. Imprints on the exterior surface of the work convey life experiences, as does leaving marks of the making process. Her use of thinned-out clay, feather and leaf themes, give a sense of transient beauty.

In contrast to the earthy outer colours, inside Faye’s pieces, refreshing blue tones and glazes convey flow, inner renewal and cleansing.

Faye provides the gallery with small numbers of original handmade ceramics. Because these may be quickly sold, for an up-to-date selection you may wish to contact the gallery.
